The 2025 class of the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame features a group committed not just to excellence, but also to service to others.
Wanda Ford, Tianna Madison, Stipe Miocic, Chris Spielman, and Jack Turben will be inducted on Tuesday, December 2 at Urban Community School’s Roundstone Athletic Center, which is also the home to the new GCSHOF and Museum.
Miocic, twice an MMA heavyweight champion, works as a firefighter in Westlake. Madison won Olympic gold and has committed herself to the Special Olympics and the Boys and Girls Clubs as head coach of the San Jose State women’s track & field team. Ford set NCAA basketball records, and works with children with behavioral problems, while teaching physical education at NEO College Prep School (Lower Campus) in Tremont. Spielman was a standout linebacker for The Ohio State University and Detroit Lions, and spearheaded the work of the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, named after his late wife. Turben has spent a lifetime in Cleveland as a builder of institutions, a cultivator of opportunity, and a tireless advocate for excellence and community.
All represent the best Greater Cleveland sports have to offer.
This year’s induction ceremony and dinner will coincide with the opening of the new home of the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame and Museum at the new Roundstone Athletic Center on the campus of Urban Community School on Cleveland’s near West side.
The GCSHOF also will present EMPOWER SPORTS (www.empowersports.org) and Rec2Connect (www.rec2connect.org) as the two recipients of the Jack Herrick Youth Sports Fund grants. The JHYSF provides financial resources to youth-oriented sports organizations who provide opportunities for local youth of all backgrounds to participate safely in sports and embody GCSHOF’s philanthropic mission of “everyone deserves a chance to play.”
The Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame tells the story of discipline, commitment, perseverance, and excellence in achievement. The Hall encourages and inspires those who believe in the importance of sport and its direct impact on the well-being of our community.
